Trac and Mantis my 3 hour results

So tonight I had a few small goals in mind, one I wanted to add Show Slow into my development pattern at home. Then I wanted to choose a bug tracking system for myself where I can personally just review a few things and keep personal goals for private projects.

Let me start with Show Slow, the night before Monday night that is I went to a web performance meet up and I must say the 3 hours spent there I took a lot out of it. One of the items that peaked my interest solely because of a project I am working on I want to show if there are any significant improvements to the site itself. Now Show Slow is a more of a record keeper for yslow and pagespeed plug ins for firefox. With just a few minutes I was able to set up the web app and configure yslow and pagespeed to communicate with it. The possibilities are endless in reference to the implications and improvements that can be done with show slow and I cannot wait till it's matured a few more steps. (I want to add a few features myself, and try a few methodologies on it.

Now my goal for tonight was actually to have 95% unit testing complete on my Nanaly Library so when the time come for me to integrate with Zend I would be able to do it with ease and no real impact on the framework negatively.  So I was side tracked primarily because I wanted to definitively define the bug tracking software of my choice ... open source of course :-)

So I went and grabbed a few  BugZilla, Trac and Mantis. Now Unfortunately I'm unable to get BugZilla to run correctly but I swear I'ma be on it next week, now Trac I have knowledge of due to my work with Rokkan, and Mantis I have some knowledge due to a Quality Assurance Agency we used for Testing. Now personally I prefer Trac, the ease of use and installation and just the way it looks and works is what is best for me. :-) Mantis how ever is completely web based and does it all but I find it extremely difficult to set up a project and dependencies on it based on the how it's set up. But then Trac is heavy in the console sense to set up but I wouldn't have it any other way right now. The Control after the project is created is great and much easier to use.

I wouldn't say that's my final choice because I have yet to try Bugzilla and a few other open-sourced projects. But I will definitely keep you all posted :-D '

Till then good night!
